Anxiety can show up in many ways. Constant worry, racing thoughts, difficulty relaxing, or a sense that something isn’t quite right.

You may be managing responsibilities while feeling increasingly overwhelmed or on edge.

Taking things steady, and going at a pace you feel comfortable with, together we will work on the thoughts, behaviours and triggers that fuel anxiety, using approaches that are proven to make a difference.

Depression and low mood

Depression and low mood can make everyday life feel heavier than it should.

You may be finding it harder to stay motivated, feeling disconnected from others, or noticing that things you used to enjoy no longer feel the same.

Together we explore the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be contributing to your low mood, and we work towards practical steps that help you feel more grounded and supported.

Busy home and work lives can bring expectations, deadlines, and responsibilities that build over time.

You may be juggling competing demands, managing others, or dealing with difficult dynamics.

We work to create a confidential space to pause, reflect, and regain balance. Together we can help you find a sense of coherence again.

About me

Hi, I'm Niall, a British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy registered counsellor (registration number 413944). I provide structured, evidence‑based online therapy.

Things we can work on

I offer talking therapy and mental health support aimed to address anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, stress at work, or other challenges. I can work with you and support you to build effective strategies to navigate through things.

My approach

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step. I aim to make the process simple and comfortable.

No pressure, no hard sell, things start with an initial confidential conversation about what you want and need from therapy, and how I might be able to help

My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is rooted in the person-centred tradition. This means I believe you possess the innate ability and inner resources to resolve your own challenges and achieve lasting personal growth. It is my role to work with you to create the right environment for you to unlock the change that you seek.

Working with you through an easy to use online videocall system, I offer a warm, safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you are fully accepted and empowered as the expert on your own life.

I am based in Leeds but offer online counselling for clients across Leeds, Yorkshire and the UK.

My background and experience

I graduated with distinction in my Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of Leeds, where I worked in an online counselling service and face to face with bereavement clients.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked as a lawyer and held policy and leadership roles in both central government and the National Health Service in England. Here I completed training and qualifications to act as a workplace coach and mentor, so I bring with me to counselling these wider experiences.

I work with people at different stages of their wellbeing and I adapt my approach to match where you are right now and what you are seeking to work on, with the ethos of Get Well, Stay Well, Be Well.

Who I help

Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, persistent stress, sleep difficulties, low confidence, or a sense of being stuck, we can work together to understand what’s happening and why.

Together we will focus on reducing distress and building coping strategies, so that we can create some breathing room for you to feel more like you again.

Get Well

Perhaps you have already had therapy and made some meaningful progress, but want to maintain momentum and prevent old patterns from resurfacing.

Together we will look at what helps you thrive, what puts you at risk of slipping backwards, and explore how you can sustain the improvements you have made.

Stay Well

Maybe you've never had therapy before but are seeking greater confidence, stronger boundaries, improved relationships, or a clearer sense of direction.

Together we will explore your strengths, values, and aspirations, creating space for personal development that feels empowering rather than reactive.

Be Well

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Successful therapy is built on a trusted relationship. That’s why I offer a confidential, free initial assessment where we can meet and talk about what you’re looking for from therapy and how we might work together.

You can then decide whether you want to proceed. You are always in control.

  • This depends on what you want to explore.

Short‑term therapy focuses on specific goals and practical change. Over roughly 6–12 sessions, people often work on clearly defined issues such as managing anxiety, improving communication, navigating a recent life transition, or developing coping strategies for stress.

Longer‑term therapy allows space for deeper exploration and gradual transformation. With more time, people can examine long‑standing patterns, relationship dynamics, attachment styles, and formative experiences that shape how they relate to themselves and others.

  • We would meet regularly on the same day and at the same time — ideally weekly, or at least fortnightly. This consistency helps maintain momentum and supports meaningful change.

Life happens, and sometimes you may need to adjust a session. We will discuss how to manage this together, and the Client Portal allows you to reschedule if needed.

  • Online therapy allows you to access support from a comfortable place, at a time that suits you, without the hassle or cost of travelling.

I work with clients through a secure, confidential video‑based system that is easy to use and requires no special software or technical skills.

Importantly, research shows that online counselling is just as effective as traditional face‑to‑face therapy, with video‑based therapy achieving particularly strong results

  • Yes. I recommend choosing a private, quiet space where you feel safe to talk openly.

I always work from a private room and use a headset so you can be confident that no one can overhear.

  • Each 50‑minute session costs £60.

I also offer a 10% discount if you prepay for a block of six sessions.

You decide how many sessions you want or need, and we will regularly check in to make sure you feel comfortable with how things are going.

  • In our first session we will go through a process called “contracting,” where we agree how we will work together. This includes session times, frequency, confidentiality, and how we will review progress.

We will also explore what you are looking for from therapy and discuss a plan for the way forward.
